個人的には、すごくハイエンドでもなく、ローでもない中庸で、そこにちょっとしたクセのあるものが気になるんですよね。
最近は、例えばアメリカの人たちが再び自国での物作りを始めてたりもしていますが、その発端は日本人がアメリカの文化に着目し続けてきたことにあるのかもしれません。日本人は独特な感覚を持っていますよね。それが面白いし、小さい頃からアメリカやヨーロッパのカルチャーが好きで、大人になってもまだ何かを求めて探し続けている。しかも吸収したことに日本の技術力や感性を融合する。そういう力を持っている人って、本当の意味でメイド・イン・ジャパンですから。
自分としては誇りです。ずっと好きなことを仕事にしたり制作して、それぞれの自分の道を歩いてきて、やるべきことを貫いている人たちだから、そういうかっこいい人たちと同じ環境にいられるのはとても光栄ですね。
In my opinion, I’m conscious of the moderation things with peculiarity. It’s not neither high-end nor low-end.
Recently, some American re-start to produce the thing in their country. I think the reason why they have looked back at American heritage is Japanese people has continued to the attention to the United States cultures. Japanese has a distinct sensibility. It's unique and interesting, we keep liking American and European culture since childhood, and keep looking for something from there even we are grown up. We create new ideas, products and cultures with Japanese technical capabilities and sensibility. That is really Made-In-Japan mind.
I am very proud of being in same community with those creators who keep creating what they believe and keep to act up to their philosophy all the time.
ヴィンテージUSミリタリーメールバッグをモチーフに製作されたショルダーバッグです。サイズはMacbook Pro 15インチがそのままピッタリ入る寸法になっています。内ポケットは背面側には背仕切りと、前面側には文庫本がスッキリ入るフラットポケットがつきます。
表地はコットンキャンバスとしては薄めの10号ですがパラフィン(ロウびき）を施しているのでハリのある風合いで、生地目も細かく、繊細な印象です。パラフィン加工のコットンキャンバスは、かつてビニールなどの水を通さない素材が開発される以前から幌馬車や船の帆に使われていた実用性のある素材です。
コットンキャンバスそのものが丈夫なことに加えてパラフィン加工による撥水力もあり、天候を選ばずお使いいただけます。
長年の仕様でパラフィンは落ちていきますが、代わりに水濡れと天日による乾燥を繰り返すうちに生地の目が詰まってきてパラフィンの機能低下を補ってくれるという合理的な素材でもあり、使い込むうちにしなやかでこなれた感じの味わいになっていきます。
使用している革は古典的な植物タンニン鞣し、染料仕上げのステア(成牛の革）です。
表地２色(べージュ、ブラック）共ブラックの革を使用しておりますが、べージュに対してはコバ(革の切り目）をナチュラルな色を活かしてフノリ(海藻から作られる透明のコバ処理剤）で磨き、ブラックはマットブラックに、ひとつひとつ手で染め上げており、使用していくうちにスレや色の変化など、革本来の味わい深さがでてきます。
また、金具類は全てオリジナルで、ブラス製（真鍮）で表面にマットブラックメッキを施していますので長く使用していくとエッジがこすれて下地の真鍮色が出てきてヴィンテージ感が増してきます。
例え汚れたとしても洗ったりせず、汚れやキズさえも風合いとして楽しんでもらいたいです。

This is a shoulder bag insipired from a vintage US military postman's mail bag. Its size is customized to fit a 15in Macbook Pro.
The bag has two inner pockets, a partition on the back side and one on the front side which fits a standard japanese book.
The outer fabric is a paraffin-waxed No.10 cotton canvas so there is a firmness to its fine texture. Paraffin coated canvases were used as a functional water repellent fabric for horse wagons and for sails of ships long time before vinyl and other synthetic materials were invented. So this bag will serve you as a sturdy, all weather item.
Although the paraffin coating will start to come off after years of usage, it will not lose its function since the weave of the cotton canvas will tighten up instead, from being under the sun and rain.
The leather straps are cow hide dyed with classical vegetable tanning.
For both colour ways (beige & black), the leather straps come in black, but the detail is a little different. The edge of the leather for the beige is left in its natural colour and is polished with Funori made from seaweed. The black is finished in matte black, each one carefully perfected by hand. You will enjoy the changing of colour and texture of the leather the longer you use it.
All metal parts are original designs made in brass. The surface is matte black plated. Long usage will errode the black plating and start to show the underneath brass, giving it a more vintage feel to it. Even if the product is stained or dirtied, we recommend you not to wash it, but rather enjoy raising this bag to end up a true vintage.
